Audacity Setup for Erica

- Start Audacity
- Must set input method so that it says "Line In" up at the top. If it says microphone you'll have to change it somewhere in preferences.
- Plug split end of cord into the "Rec" jacks of the tape section of input/outputs on the back of the 6700. Plug other end of cord into the input jack of your Macbook (not the headphone one.)
- Clean needle and record and make sure it's spinning right speed if you want.
- Check input level.
- Set input volume slider to about 4. You can experiment and modulate this.
- Hit "Record" in Audacity and start the record; pick one of the louder songs.
- Check to see that level is not maxing out and that both channels are recording.
- Stop this and delete it by hitting the "X".
- Press "Record" and start the record.
- When side or song finishes press "Stop".
- Remove silence and crap at beginning by highlighting and pressing "Cut" aka the scissors.
- Export
- Highlight first track all the way up to beginning of the next track.
- Chose "Export Selection" from File menu.
- Choose "MP3 Files".
- Select "Options..." and choose "Preset", "Standard, ...", "Standard", "Joint Stereo". See [1] for more information.
- Give file name and select save location.
- Don't bother with the meta data.
- Press "Cut" and then repeat for next track.
- Import files into iTunes and rename etc.
